Do you want to know how to design a city through technology and innovation and know what tools you can have to improve your lifestyle? Player Accelerator organizes, in collaboration with Distrito Digital Comunitat Valenciana, the free online course ‘Active Urban Design and Innovation’, on May 18 and 19, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The course will be taught in English, with Spanish translation available in the chat. The training is oriented in two blocks:

1. Innovative design of urban areas focused on people
2. Use of electronic tools to design a more active lifestyle through the game

The online course is especially aimed at public officials or managers of urban areas and services, professionals in the new technologies applied to the design of cities and tools for citizen use, teachers and trainers, students from technology branches, architects, sports specialists and athletes.

During the training  you will learn the best practices on how to design active urban areas and what short and long-term benefits a good urban design strategy has for the community and its people. You can also learn real examples of actions developed in urban design by Player Accelerator, such as the one carried out with the Ministry of Sports of Saudi Arabia (“How to reorganize university sports”) and with the city of Oulu in Finland (“How to use sports to help children lead a more active and balanced life “).

Course development

The first day of the online course will focus on explaining what “active urban design” is, its usefulness and its main principles. In the second session, you will learn the use of electronic and technological tools to motivate children through the intelligent use of electronic sports and games as tools for a more active lifestyle. Electronic sports and games can also be used as instruments to learn new skills and knowledge.

Finally, we will take a closer look at a successful Finnish concept called “Schools on the Move,” which has been successful in increasing children’s physical activity.
